February 2009

|
Hi
Welcome to the 2009 squash year. We have another exciting year ahead of us full of tournaments, interclub and hopefully a few social events. To assist with planning for the year, the significant dates for upcoming events are shown on the 2009 calendar attached (see bottom of email).
As always details and reminders of events will be emailed closer to the event date and will be available on the website and noticeboard at the club.
If in doubt you can always ask a committee member.
Kind reagrds
The Committee

Your Club Needs You!
|
Ken Aitcheson stood down from his role as President of the club at the AGM in November. We're sure all members will join the committee in saying a big thanks to Ken for all his hard work and vision for the club during his term as president.
As yet no one has stepped up to take over the role and the club is currently without a President. If you are keen to be involved in developing the club and continue the great work that Ken has done in the past couple of years, please contact a committee member.

National Squash Weekend
|
Following on from the success of last years event, Squash NZ has designated the weekend of 28-29th March as National Squash weekend.
The club will be open from 2.30 to 5pm each day for people interested in squash to come and check us out.
Of course we need volunteers to come down and help out. So if you are available please pitch in and let us know when you can come along.

Subscriptions
|
Subs letters will be sent out in early March. After a number of years without any increase and to assist with the increasing costs of running the club, it was determined at the AGM that the 2009 adult, social and students subscriptions will increase 10%.

The club, including the office, will be open from 5.30 to 7.30pm to all members and anyone who might be interested in joining the club. This is also a great time to pop in to renew your membership.

Working Bee
|
|
A working bee will be held on the weekend of 7-8th March. The purpose is to give the club a spruce up ahead of the first tournament of the year and the interclub season. If you can spare an hour or two please come along and help support your club.
The main push for this is to give the courts a real good scrub. Members down at Logan Park have recently scrubbed their courts with both a degreaser and white vinegar with fantastic results and have offered to show us how to do ours.
So if you have had an issue with the courts being slippery over the last year or so then make sure you come on down and help us fix the problem.
See you there!
